Passover or Pesach is a festival of spring. Another name for the festival is the festival of spring חג האביב Chag Ha Aviv. The Torah stresses both the agricultural and the historical aspects of Passover. There is a strong but subtle relationship of nature and history in so many of the Bible’s teachings. The festival falls on the 15th of the Month of Nisan. the festival is one of the three pilgrimage festivals that celebrates freedom and the escape of the Israelites from Egypt. In Israel the festivals really reflect and echo the seasons. the spring is when the orange and lemon orchards are in full bloom and fruit. I believe it is is correct to have evidence of Spring on the table, the yellow lemons and green foliage celebrate spring, in a very graphic manner.
